First time visiting Arclight Comics? It’s amazing to have you here! We’ve finally realized there’s a lot of information and content. How things are currently arranged, it can be confusing to find what you’re looking for. So we’ve made this page JUST for you—because you’re dope and well appreciated. Everything you possibly wanted to know, download, and buy is listed below. Take your time with it. We’ll be here!
To date we have produced 10 comics, but we need to break this down.
We make what are called mini issues. There are 9 of these altogether and they are FREE 1-page comics with a complete story that introduce you to our characters, world, and provide you insight on the kinds of stories we’ll be telling.
We have 2 categories of mini issues: Wave 1 and Wave 2.
Wave 1 mini issues were experimental. We used them to test the market and see how the public would respond to what we were doing—and some 4,000+ downloads later we decided that y’all LOVED what we were putting out.
Wave 1 mini issues do not follow canon. They exist solely on their own. Think of them as our own self-created fan-fiction of our characters.
There are 7 issues in all featuring Bolt, Braxton, Go-Girl, Riot, Tremor (a 2-part series), and Solace (released May 2017).
Wave 2 mini issues follow canon. This line of mini issues were created after our full comic issue release in December 2016: Issue #0 – The Passing. These minis take place before the world-changing event in Issue #0.
There are 2 of these altogether and tell the stories of Apex and Braxton. Again: These issues follow canon and tie into Issue #0. They will also tie into our 1st major graphic novel release slated for a 2018/2019 release.
Printed 11×17 versions of some mini issues will be available soon.
In December 2016 we dropped our 1st full 21-page issue: Issue #0 – The Passing. A universal one-shot event that is your starting point into the Arclight Universe.
This issue is what gets everything jumpin’ and will lead right into our 1st major graphic novel release slated for a 2018/2019 release (currently being written).
This issue is digital-only for now. We will be having a Kickstarter soon to get them printed, but if you can’t wait until then, feel free to purchase and leave a review.
….a solid introduction to a universe every comics reader who loves superheroes will want to know.
Graphic Policy, Rated 10/10
What would you do if you woke up tomorrow and could fly?
Think about this for a minute: What would happen to the world if every single one of us woke up with super powers tomorrow morning?
We’d like to think we’d be superheroes and save the day, but since we already seem to be capable of destroying each others lives without the ability to control fire or the weather, just imagine how much more dangerous we’d become?
Imagine someone sneezing and blowing up a city block in New York? Or an innocent child who’s unknowingly melting things and people with their hands?
Straight up chaos, right?
But it doesn’t have to be that way, and several people will take it upon themselves to look out into the world and restore the hope we’ve lost. They’ll show us the sacrifice it takes to become real superheroes in a world where they only truly exist in comic books.
The journey into this story will start in 2018/2019 with our 1st major graphic novel release currently being written.
Our characters are purposefully and intentionally crafted to represent humanity. No gimmicks attached. Arclight was founded on a solid principle to be inclusive with intent—meaning we’re not checking races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, religions, etc. off of a laundry list just to say we have diversity.
We create people who happen to be of or from a certain demographic, who happen to be superheroes.
We give them a voice.
We give them agency.
We give them worlds to function in, independently, outside the team, so you can eventually choose your favorites and become part of their own corner of Arclight Universe.
Each character has a creator behind it that’s taken the time, done the research, and put in the work to bring them to life with the help of the team. You can click on any of the pictures below to be taken to individual character pages.
Some pages are more fleshed out than others. We’re working on the rest. 😉
The squad is growing. Here’s the run down of everyone involved:
ED WILLIAMS // FOUNDER, CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER
He was told he couldn’t be Batman because Batman wasn’t Black at the age of 6. Several years later, Arclight Comics was born.
What you experience, what you read, the content we drop, how the brand feels and looks is all Ed. He makes sure if you take a chance on us, it’s worth your time.
Ed had a huge role to play in our early days when it came to the art. He concepted many of the characters you see today. Now, he’s focused on brand and business development and writing. He’s written Mini Issues #1, #2 (Wave 1), #2 (Wave 2), and The Passing. He’s currently writing our 1st graphic novel.
Ed is the creator of Tremor, Bot, Braxton, and Riot. He is the co-creator of Go-Girl.
TIM WASNEY // SR. ART DIRECTOR
You need things to look at. Like…a lot of things. We aren’t much of a comic publisher without the visuals. Tim makes sure you get those visuals and amazing colors on the issues you read.
Tim is responsible for a lot of the art you see, managing our art department and interns. He makes sure we’re putting out nothing but quality. If you’re an artist wanting to join the team some day, this is the guy you have to go through.
Tim is also the creator of Apex.
BRENT LYLES // DEVELOPER
Brent’s in your DMs building relationships with you and making connections that help us enhance your experience here. He also makes sure you get the best version of our stories and characters. Brent’s ability to add depth and layering to characters is pretty dope.
Brent is also the creator of Solace.
SPENCER BOLLETTIERI // LEAD EDITOR
Spence is here to make sure we don’t break canon and keep everything consistent for you. He’s also sorta in charge of getting us together when it comes to due diligence and research for characters. He won’t let us create a character we don’t properly understand.
Spence is also heading up our villain development. Stay tuned.
